Town House with Roof Terrace and Guest Apartment

PRICE 390.000 € // REF 346

This exciting house underwent a major refurbishment in 2012 when the current owners transformed it from an uninhabitable dwelling to the beauty it is today. This ancient house is built on top of the old town wall in the historic centre of the hilltop village of Castell’ Alfero, just outside of Asti. The house is built on the highest point of the village, right next door to a small deconsecrated church (no longer in use). The house stretches over two streets with the main entrance from on top of the town wall. The facade with the main entrance is covered with plaster in a pink colour, whilst the facade on the parallel street is in exposed old bricks. From the main entrance you arrive in a big hallway/studio with a small staircase on the right leading to the two ground floor bedrooms and bathroom, a large storage room with exposed brick ceiling, a laundry room plus a technical room. There is a door from the storage room leading out on the back street. On the left hand side of the main hallway is the staircase which goes up to the sitting room with an amazing high ceiling. The sitting room feels spacious and bright with its exposed wood beams and a terrace door to a balcony with superb views over the rolling landscape and the buildings below the town wall. An old half-circle pillar in exposed bricks makes a great feature in the room. Four steps up from the sitting room is the kitchen with its long dining table and terrace door to a balcony overlooking the back street. Here as well you find the high ceiling with exposed beams which makes the room feel light and airy. Behind the kitchen is a double bedroom (also with a terrace door to the kitchen balcony) plus a bathroom. A wooden staircase leads up to a sitting area over the kitchen. From here you have a veranda door to the roof terrace. The terrace has great views and total privacy.

From the back street is a wooden staircase leading up to the guest apartment. You enter into the open plan room with a sitting area and a small kitchen. A double bed is placed on the mezzanine and the bathroom is under the mezzanine, next to the kitchen. Two chairs and a table are placed by on the balcony by the front door to the apartment. From here you see the treetops towards Asti and the charming archway to the centre of the old town. Under the house is a cave-cellar which the present owners have left as it was originally. This can be turned into a very special wine cellar as it even is equipped with a small window in the town wall!

There is lots of street parking by the house and the historic centre is very charming with a beautiful piazza with the old castle, now housing the town hall and a lovely cafe. The main piazza is 2 minutes walk from the house. There is a trattoria in the village as well as the cafe, a baker, the bank, post office and pharmacy. In just minutes drive you find a big supermarket and Asti with all its services are also close by.

This is a turn-key town house with income potential and charme. Not to be missed!
